Hunyuan Motion from one sentence, then preview the clip

A 3D animator who needs a human motion clip types one sentence in the browser and previews the motion when the job finishes. Sign in before the job can start. The Generate click checks credits: Fast uses 60 and Standard uses 80. If the balance is short, the credit purchase opens then. A daily claim adds 50 credits; from a zero balance, two claims cover one motion.

Quick tips

  • Select source and target formats, then upload your 3D file.
  • Conversion happens locally in your browser - files are never uploaded.
  • Download the converted file immediately after processing completes.

Convert STL to OBJ in your browser

This page converts a STL file to OBJ directly in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Choose a file, check it in the preview, press convert and download the result. The converter reads the model with three.js, shows it, and writes a new file with the matching three.js exporter. Because formats store different things, some information can be lost; the sections below list what carries over and what does not for this exact pair.

The formats in this conversion

Source format: STL

Stereolithography (STL) (.stl)

What it stores
A surface as a list of triangles, in binary or ASCII form, with no colours, materials or units in the standard format.
How this converter reads it
Read as geometry; the converter adds a plain gray material.

Target format: OBJ

Wavefront OBJ (.obj)

What it stores
Plain-text vertex positions, normals, texture coordinates and faces. Materials live in a separate .mtl file.
How this converter writes it
Written as plain text with positions, normals and texture coordinates per object. No .mtl file, textures or vertex colours are written.

STL to OBJ: what carries over

Carried over

  • The mesh geometry, meaning vertex positions and triangle faces, is written to the OBJ file.

Good to know

  • Materials are not part of this conversion: STL files are read without them and OBJ output is written without them.
  • Coordinates are copied unchanged and never rescaled. STL and OBJ treat units the same way, so the model should keep its size.

What this converter does

  • Reads STL and writes OBJ on your device; the file is never uploaded.
  • Previews the STL model in 3D before you convert, with orbit controls.
  • Produces a new OBJ file for download and leaves your original untouched.
  • Re-centres the model on the origin and never rescales it.

How to convert STL to OBJ

  1. Check that the two dropdowns show STL as the source and OBJ as the target.
  2. Select your STL file; it appears in the preview.
  3. Press the convert button and wait for the progress bar to finish.
  4. Download the OBJ file and open it in your target application.
  5. Check scale, materials and colours there, using the notes above as a guide.

Supported conversions

GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY and VOX files can be converted to glTF, OBJ, STL or PLY, which gives 20 combinations. A format is never converted to itself, but GLB to glTF is available. GLB and VOX are input only, so there is no conversion to GLB or VOX, and FBX or 3MF files can be viewed with the viewer but not converted.

STL to OBJ converter FAQ

Is my STL file uploaded when I convert it?

No. Reading the STL file and writing the OBJ file both happen in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result exists only on your device until you download it.

Which 3D formats can I convert between?

GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY and VOX can be converted to glTF, OBJ, STL or PLY. GLB and VOX are input only, and FBX or 3MF files can be viewed but not converted. The list of all converters below links to every available pair.

Why did my converted file lose colours or textures?

Each output format keeps only what its exporter writes. OBJ output has no .mtl file or textures, STL stores triangles only, and PLY keeps vertex colours but no textures. Only glTF output keeps materials and embedded textures. The notes above show what this pair carries over.

Is animation kept when I convert STL to OBJ?

No. The converter reads the static model and does not export animation clips, so keyframes or skeletal animation in a GLB or glTF file are not carried over. If you need animation, export it from your original 3D software.

My .gltf has separate .bin or texture files. Can I convert it?

Only if everything is embedded in the one file you select. The converter reads a single file and cannot fetch .bin or image files stored next to it, so such a glTF may fail or lose its textures. Convert from a GLB or an embedded glTF instead.

Is there a file size limit?

The tool does not enforce one. Large models are limited by your device's memory and graphics hardware, and they may convert slowly or fail, especially on phones. Try a smaller or simplified file if the conversion does not finish.

Will my model keep its size and position?

Coordinates are copied without scaling, but the converter moves the model so that its bounding box is centred on the origin. glTF uses metres while OBJ, STL and PLY define no unit, so check the scale after importing.
